Art Club

The Art Club has opportunities for your student to grow creatively, outside of art class. They are given additional chances to explore their own creativity, interests, work on community projects and be recognized for their accomplishments in visual arts. Art Club is open to students in 3rd to 5th grade. Boys to Men
Men Silhouettes

The Boys To Men club will discuss such topics as leadership, teamwork, self-esteem, friendships and avoiding cliques, as well as being professional. Boys To Men will be involved in community service and take field trips to FSU Basketball games and will participate in College & Career field trips and seminars.   Digital Learning and Coding

 The students in this club will use computers, iPads, and other digital tools to practice coding and to participate in other technology-related activities. G.E.M.S.

Girls Empowered to Move toward Success (GEMS) is a female leadership development club. Our desire is to help our girls develop their skills by focusing on excellence in academics, self-esteem, goal-setting, social skills, public speaking, etiquette, and more. Additionally, we instill in them the significance of giving back through community service. As such, this club participates in several community service opportunities throughout the year.Enrollment is open to all girls in 3rd-5th grades. Girls on the Run is focused on strengthening our muscles and minds while preparing for a 5k. Go Green Team

Go Green Team is a club with a focus on going green and saving our planet. This club is responsible for collecting all recyclables in our school. Lego Club

The Lego Club is for aspiring engineers who love to create and build using legos.  National Beta Club

Principal Advisory Council

Each homeroom selects a class representative to the Principal Advisory Council. This governing body of students meets with Ms. Blanding at least twice a quarter to share ideas on improving J.W. Coon for its student body.

Safety Patrol

Coached by: Ms. Kitty Carter & Ms. Marie Moore

Students in the 4th and 5th grade are selected to serve on the  Safety Patrol team. These students show exemplary behavior inside and outside the classroom. Students serve as door monitors in the mornings, raise the flags in the morning and serve as flag bearers during awards ceremonies.  Students will report to duty during the hours of 7:15 a.m.-7:50 a.m. They will remove the flag at 2:00 p.m. each day.
